Weekend Long Reads

Pepe Karmel on Jackson Pollock

To coincide with Jackson Pollock: The Early Years, 1934-1947, on view at Musée National Picasso–Paris, The Kasmin Review revisits a selection of defining perspectives on Jackson Pollock's practice. In the following essay, Pepe Karmel, co-curator of Pollock’s third retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art in 1998, sheds light on the range of influence Pollock drew from Pablo Picasso in his lifetime. Both artists’ works are installed in Pollock’s ongoing exhibition at the Musée National Picasso–Paris through January 19, 2025.

Museum & Offsite

Kasmin is pleased to present Alain Jacquet & James Rosenquist, in collaboration with Perrotin New York and thanks to Sophie Matisse and Gaïa Jacquet-Matisse, Mimi Thompson and Lily Rosenquist. This sweeping exhibition elucidates the expressive work of Jacquet and Rosenquist. Most notably associated with the Pop Art movement, these two artists were contemporaries and friends who shared similar interests and practices. The gallery's first floor highlights the artists' interest in space, while the second floor features artwork from the 1960s.
